I studied a Bachelor of Design / Bachelor of Creative Industries at Western Sydney University, a degree that I completed in 2024! This course was practically written for me; being able to major in illustration, photography and creative writing? Yeah, I was living the dream! I was able to put my skills to the test across both live and hypothetical briefs, working with other emerging designers to create amazing projects. I learnt the importance of collaboration and entrepreneurial thinking in my units focusing on both print and digital media as well as design fundamentals.
It was through this degree that I gained the skills and confidence to start my freelance design business!
Why did I start Laurelai?
I started my freelance design business because I had a genuine passion for branding, and I wanted to push myself further than my university assignments allowed! I was eager to continue honing my skills in industry-standard software as well as creating compelling visual identities for businesses.
I am incredibly thankful to my teenage self for daring to give it a go! Without her, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to work with businesses within a vast array of industries including interior design, psychology and health advocacy.
